Jomblang
Jomblang Cave, also known as a vertical cave, can be reached about 1.5 hours drive from downtown Yogyakarta.
Jomblang Cave is a vertical collapse doline type cave. This cave was formed due to the geological process of the subsidence of the soil and the vegetation on it to the bottom of the earth that occurred thousands of years ago. This collapse forms a sinkhole or well which in Javanese is known as luweng. That's what makes it unique because at the bottom of the vertical cave there is an ancient forest and the mouth of a horizontal cave with a diameter of about 50 meters.
Jombalang Cave has a depth of 60 meters. When we reach the bottom of the cave we will pass through a 300 meter long passage with muddy and humid paths with uphill and downhill terrain with a travel duration of about 3 hours.
After reaching the bottom of the cave we can find a scene called the 'light of heaven'. Sunlight will enter the cave through the cracks of the cave and illuminate the flowstone. We can also see the lush green forest, various mosses, and ferns. In addition, you can see rock crystals, stalactites, and stalagmites. There is also a flowing river.
